highlights Other choice moments from Wash DC: -A bar between Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan. "Pharmacy Bar." Pills underneath the glass table tops. Cute. Noticed a sign behind the bar in an unintelligible language. Picked up the menu, which offered Aldaris, a Latvian beer. Flipped said menu over and found more unintelligible language. Asked the bartender, "Is this Latvian?" Realized the name of the bar was actually Krogs Aptieka. Longed for Andis. -Got a tour of NPR Studios, thanks to Peter and his connecshuns. Eric Dunham was a lively and gracious host. Saw the style guide posted in the news room -- woo! (Al Qaeda has no hyphen. Make it so.) Wandered down to a recording in progress... Noah Adams, my secret lover, was nowhere to be seen, but Robert Siegel walked RIGHT PAST US, all famous-like. Met some great people whose names I don't remember, but wow, that style guide was neat. 11 Nov 2001 at 06:11 PM
