Obligatory

Not feeling bloggy lately. Here is a list, because lists are easy to do even when you are not feeling bloggy.

1. Went to SF. Managed to see almost everyone I wanted to, no small feat in 4 days. Had a lovely time with hosts Lane and Courtney.

2. Caught a cold. Appreciating first-hand Caterina's theory about germ pools. (Just when I stopped being felled by NC germs, I stepped back among no-longer-familiar SF ones.)

3. Really, really want to buy a new car. More specifically, want to buy a Saab 900 (or 9-3). Even more specifically, want this one, located where my parents live.

4. Floating in a puddle of lostness about research, school, literature reviews, and "maybe I should have been a linguist after all".

5. Still wondering who "A. Czech" and "Paola Zania" are.* Betting they're not Czech. Betting further that they live in Texas, are really the same person, and are in cahoots.

*A quick summary: I received a mysterious email berating me for stealing a Czech word for my domain name ("Blog? What is blog? This is not Czech."). The message became a volley became a full-scale anti-pohadka.com campaign, replete with interview requests from (ahem) Czech journalists. It's gone on for several weeks now, although the pace has dwindled.

Many clues have led me to conclude that, however anguished and bitter the author's tone may be, the author, is not, in fact, and anguished and bitter Czech. But I am entertaining guesses as to the perpetrator's identity. You know, so that I can sue for the mental anguish caused by such vitriolic emails, then extort a large sum of money for the pohadka.com domain, like a good capitalist American scumbag.

It was great to see you, however briefly. Sad to hear you got sick. Make like Bear with the Gatorade and tuck sprigs of Echinacea between your toes. Get that 97. And publish the vitriolic volleys!

In cahoots?!!! I'm hurt and astounded that you would consider me capable of associating with such a hoodlum(s).
